information visualization of alzheimer's connections
"A dynamic display reacts to changes in information. An interactive display reacts to user input." The concept of this protoype, which was a group project made with Julie Billiter, was to take medical terms associated with Alzheimer's disease and show a way that they connect to each other. The prototype displays icons that, when clicked, give further info on that icon. (ApoE is functioning.) Use the search to dim everything but ApoE.
The key is also interactive, and categorizes the rows of icons, and explains the connections of icons. When the verbs are clicked, every icon that connects through that verb shows up and the intensity of the line is due to how much research has supported the theory.
A side project with the prototype was a simple visualization of the process that a doctor or scientist goes through in order to research medical terms on the web. This was created after observing our medical client in action.
